About FORTECHENVI

The Fifth International Scientific Conference FORTECHENVI 2019 is held on the occasion of celebrating the 100 year jubilee of the establishment of Mendel University in Brno. The Conference is intended for all interested parties from the spheres of science, research, pedagogy and operational work practice.

The tradition of the FORTECHENVI conferences has a long history. The first FORTECHENVI Conference was organized by the then Department of Forest and Wood Technology (today's Department of Engineering) at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, Mendel University in Brno in 2000. The main conference topic was the issue of the impact of forest machines and technologies on the environment. The organization of this conference was led by an effort to provide an international platform for the discussion of topics by the Department in the field of research in order to cultivate long-term international collaboration.

FORTECHENVI Objectives

The main intention of the conference is to present progressive scientific and operational findings contributing to the solution of urgent needs in forestry and the topical issues in teaching technical disciplines at the faculties of forestry.

• Timber logging, haulage and forest regeneration with the emphasis on the current needs of forest management – processing of salvage felling timber and subsequent reforestation
• Small-scale production technologies in forestry
• Precision forestry
• Ecological impacts of the operation of forest machines and their minimization
• Non-wood forest products
• Ergonomics and labour safety
• Use of logging residues for energy
• Management of wooded areas growing outside the forest
• Teaching technical subjects at forestry faculties and their collaboration with the professional forestry field
